There's this girl, and it's killing me.?

There's this girl I've been I'n love with for about 2 years, we've done just about everything but have sex, and were openly talking about dating, but stopped talking for about 4 months and when we got back to talking and hanging out she says she doesn't want to lose me as a friend, I know the problem isn't a physical attraction issue, but it's just she feels bad, seeing as I'm under aged, and she isn't. She is 2 years older then me. She says things would be better if I weren't under aged, but she told me she had a boyfriend over a txt to see how i would react, which I had reacted dissapointed. She told me she didn't have one, but had said she wished I acted differently, she wants to be friends because of this issue, I'll be 18 I'n 6 months, but I worked hard and it's emotionally crippling knowing that she feels terrible doing anything with me, just because of my age.. I don't know what to do. How can she go from talking about dating, to not wanting to lose me as a friend???
