Could my laptop be breaking my chargers?

I've had my laptop for about two years. The charger it came with worked flawlessly for about the first year, then it started only working if it was in a certain position, and as time went on it got progressively harder to find a position it would charge in, and then one day it finally broke all together. So I ordered a new one, that one worked perfect at first, but within a week it began to do the same thing, that one only lasted a few months. So I went to a computer store and invested in a $50 charger, and I've had this one for 2 months and it's doing the same thing again!!! It's to the point now where it's barely charger, while it's on my lap I'm literally afraid to breathe too deeply because it will make my charger stop working. That is how sensitive it is. I can't keep buying chargers. At first I thought it was just the charger but now I am convinced it's something to do with my laptop shorting them out. Could it be my battery? What should I do? I can't afford a new laptop right now :(
