Fallout New Vegas Pip Boy disappeared!?

Okay, so I edited my game save a while back and put the Mysterious Stranger's .44 Magnum in my inventory. It was really easy to be evil, and whip butt (1 Hit Kills). Anyways, so I stumbled upon a BoS base in the Mohave, and they took me to their leader and stripped my weapons. So I lost the .44 and its gone. But anyways, I just tried to put my profile save back into the usb and mod it again. But each time I mod it correctly, I turn on my game, and my Pip-Boy is gone, or invisible! I can still hear it, but I cant see it, it's just my players arm. A butt naked arm. Help, I have a backup save, but I really want my .44 back! How do I mod it correctly and flawlessly?! Help! PLEASE!
